Originally from Montreal, Barbara Bolton has been living in Ottawa for 16 years.
Photography has been an enduring passion ever since, at the age of 13, Barbara’s father gave her a Rolliflex and introduced her to a darkroom. This was where she became aware of the control available when doing one’s own printing. Since those early days Bolton has photographed as time and opportunity permitted, all the while enhancing her skills through camera club memberships, courses, workshops, competitions and master classes. The arrival of digital photography meant revising her technical skills and using a computer ‘darkroom’ to once again control her results.
As a member of Studio 255, Bolton has been working closely with Michael Tardioli of SPAO to prepare exhibitions derived from the Group’s shoots of Paris and now Berlin. Further explorations of great cities are planned.
